Electrician Speers Point 

Speers Point is an established lakeside suburb on the western shore of Lake Macquarie, settled from the 1870s, and its long mid-century housing stock tells you what the electrical work looks like. Older fibro and weatherboard cottages near the foreshore around The Esplanade sit alongside post-war brick-veneer homes and newer infill units along Main Road. Many of those older houses predate mandatory RCDs, so they lack safety switches on power and lighting circuits, and renovations regularly trigger partial or full rewires to bring deteriorated cabling up to standard. The lake setting adds its own demands. The low-lying foreshore and the Cockle Creek catchment on the western boundary can surcharge stormwater in heavy rain, and the wind and weather of Hunter storm season take a toll on overhead service lines and meter connections.
